Barking Dogs
This is my letter to the editor which was in the paper today:
Letter to the Editor
Something has been happening far worse than chip seal on city streets. It happens unpredictably any time of the day or night, and has increased my blood pressure.
It is caused by the irresponsible, inconsiderate people in the house in back of my house who ignore the irritating and discomforting effect their four barking dogs have on me and other suffering citizens. I cannot call them neighbors because of the definition of the word includes kindliness. These people maliciously encourage their dogs to bark day or night, and don’t care about the misery to others.
The city has apparently no working ordinance to combat this ruthless activity.
From the numerous complaints received daily by the Animal Control people, it is obvious that this idiocy is commonplace throughout the city. It is also noticeable along the fairways of our local golf course. One barking dog along the golf course can be heard by probably 50 or more residents in the area.
What is wrong with these dog owners?
In my neighborhood, almost everyone owns at least one dog. But, there are only five that permit their dogs to bark. And, only two that are especially ignorant.
We started a No More Oil and Chips Club about ten years ago to protest putting chip seal on city streets.
Perhaps we must start a No More Dog Barking Club and encourage the city fathers to eliminate this nuisance. Or, we might even bring a class action suit against the malicious violators.
We must join together to stop this nonsense.
I have already gotten a number of favorable responses.
